What can I do as an HR professional?
Through the framework established by the VA HR Academy, our Department is taking important steps to shift the roles of our HR professionals from operational responsibilities to more strategic advisory services. Thus, VA’s HR employees will continue to find innovative ways to advise their customers on cutting edge practices.
As an HR employee, leverage MyCareer@VA as a resource to educate applicants, current employees and supervisors on the types of career development activities available throughout the Department. Serve as a confidential coach and source of timely and accurate information on government-wide and Departmental policies and procedures for a variety of internal VA stakeholders. Thus, the portal and My Career Mapping Tool provide an enhanced solution for HR professionals to advise existing VA employees and their supervisors on the benefits and resources available for facilitating productive career development activities.
Ultimately, MyCareer@VA and its tools will allow HR professionals to provide supervisors, employees and applicants the right information for career development and ensure the Department’s important mission is accomplished for America’s Veterans.
